We had an excellent time at Chark Farm with more horse riding and milking of the calfs, and the children loved it, the weather was superb, but disaster struck on Thursday morning the day of the Volcanic Ash!! Ian returned from the shops with the news that Heathrow Airport was closing at 1200. I was then doing some work on his laptop when the telephone rung I turned to answer the phone not realising that my feet had the charger cable which was plugged into his laptop wrapped around my legs. Hence the laptop crashes down and breaks. We ultimately had to pack up our things to return home early so that we could get the computer fixed.
The following morning the 16th April I woke to start my 40th birthday with a telephone call from my brother to say that he could not come and see me due to all flights from Dublin and the UK cancelled. I then had a cross husband trying to contact people all day to sort out our laptop. I took Charlote to the cinema to get out of the way to watch Nanny McPhee, but surprisingly enough really enjoyed myself.
The morning of the 17th I was woken at 3.00am that morning by my Uncle as he felt unwell and needed an Ambulance which was a very frightening experience. Sunday dinner time and our meat which Mum bought on Saturday from local butcher was off so had Sunday lunch at the Harvester before hospital visit. My Uncle and Auntie were supposed to fly back to Spain on this Sunday this however was obviously cancelled, firstly due to the ash and secondly as he was unwell.
Friday 30th April my brother finally arrived from Dublin with his wife Corina so we were able to start my birthday celebrations, with a fabulous shopping trip to Kingston just Corina and myself (no children) where I bought a Pandorra bracelet.
My Uncle is now out of hospital and is due to return to Spain next Sunday the 9th May.
